Agro-forestry-aquatic exports up nearly 17% in five months

VGP - Viet Nam gained US$23.2 billion from exporting agro-forestry-aquatic products in the first five months of 2022, a year-on-year increase of 16.8 percent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Specifically, the export value of key farm products, forestry items and aquatic products reached US$9.4 billion, US$7.7 billion and US$4.8 billion, witnessing respective increases of 10.4 percent, 7.6 percent and 46.3 percent.

Coffee, rubber, rice, cashew nuts, fruits and vegetables, tra fish, shrimp, wood products and production materials were top products with export value surpassing US$1 billion each.

Regarding export markets, Asia accounted for 41.6 percent of the value of agricultural, forestry and aquatic product exports followed by America (30.4 percent), Europe (12 percent), Oceania (1.7 percent) and Africa (1.5 percent).

The U.S. was the largest importer of Viet Nam's farm products, with nearly US$6.5 billion, accounting for 28 percent while China ranked second with over US$4.1 billion.

The total import and export value of agro-forestry-aquatic products in the reviewed period was estimated at US$41.3 billion, up 8.6 percent, said the ministry./.
