13th Party Central Committee convenes 8th plenum
VGP - The 13th Party Central Committee opened its eighth plenum in Ha Noi on Monday.
The participating members observed a moment of silence for Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh who passed away on August 22, 2023, and the victims of recent natural disasters and fires.
During the week-long sitting, the Party Central Committee will discuss socio-economic performance and state budget in 2023, and socio-economic development and budget plan for 2024, state budget-finance plan for 2024-2026; and a roadmap for implementing the new salary regime.
The Party Central Committee will review 10-year implementation of several social policies for 2012-2020; 20-year implementation of the Party resolution on bringing into full play the strength of great national unity; 15-year implementation of the Party resolution on building a contingent of intellectuals in the period of accelerating industrialization and modernization; and 10-year implmentation of the Party resolution on the national defense strategy in the new situation.
The participants will also discuss a personnel plan for the 14th Party Central Committee and other important issues.
In his opening remarks, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong underlined the significant importance of this plenum toward the completion of the political tasks set out at the 13th National Party Congress.
He urged the delegates to uphold the sense of responsibility and stay focused on the meeting's agenda./.
