WIN survey: Viet Nam ranks first in gender equality at home and work
VGP - Viet Nam ranks first in terms of gender equality at home and work among 39 countries joining in the poll of a survey which was conducted by the Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research (WIN) ahead of the International Women's Day (March 8).
According to the survey, 93 percent of the Vietnamese respondents said gender equality exists at their home while about 84 percent of them said there is equality between men and women at their workplace, marking the highest ratios recorded among respondents from 39 countries across the world.
Meanwhile, 70 percent of the respondents agreed that there is equality between sexes at their family, while 60 percent of them answered gender quality can be seen at work.
Women face the most difficulties in the political sector as only half of the overall respondents said women and men are treated equally in politics. In Viet Nam, the figure is 63 percent.
Approximately 37 percent of the overall interviewees agreed women have the same opportunities as men when it comes to job search and career development. The proportion reached 69 percent in Viet Nam.
The survey was conducted in 39 countries via face-to-face, telephone, and online interviews with the participation of 33,326 people.
In Viet Nam, the survey was carried out by the Indochina Research Company, which involved 601 people from four big cities of Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Can Tho.
