Weekly COVID-19 update: 227 new cases, 59 recoveries

VGP - Viet Nam logged 219 local infection cases and eight imported cases while 59 patients were discharged from hospitals from February 8-14.

As of February 14, the national patient tally reached 2,228, including 1,297 locally transmitted cases.

Of the tally, 219 local infections were recorded in Hai Duong (152), HCMC (34), Quang Ninh (12), Ha Noi (nine), Gia Lai (eight), Hung Yen (two), Bac Giang (one), and Bac Ninh (one).

The imported cases included five foreigners from Costa Rica, Indonesia, and the U.S, the Republic of Korea and Chinese Taipei.  The rest were Vietnamese nationals who repatriated from Japan (one) and the U.S. (two).

Meanwhile, 59 patients were declared free of the virus and exited hospitals, bringing the total recoveries to 1,531.

As many as 152,690 people who had close contact with confirmed cases or entered Viet Nam from pandemic-hit regions are currently placed under medical surveillance and quarantine nationwide, including 683 in hospitals, 18,232 in state-designated establishments and 133,775 at places of residence.

To help citizens live safety with the pandemic, the Ministry of Health called on people to strictly follow the 5K message: Khau trang (Facemask) – Khu khuan (Disinfection) – Khoang cach (Keeping distance) – Khong tap trung dong nguoi (No gathering) – Khai bao y te (Medical declaration)./.
