Over the past 20 years, Vietnamese police force has expanded cooperation with other countries’ police in crime prevention, training, capacity building, said Minister of Public Security Trần Đại Quang in an interview with VGP’s correspondent on October 29.

He affirmed that the admission to Interpol has effectively contributed maintaining political stability, security, and social order and safety, and development in Việt Nam.

For more effective participation in Interpol, Minister Quang stressed the necessity for the country to perfect legal system on crime prevention and control.

In addition, Việt Nam needs to review the enforcement of current legal documents as well as international treaties that the country is a party to, and then improve the related legal system, including the Law on prevention and control of organized crimes, Law on high-tech crime prevention.

The Ministry of Public Security will consider establishing specialized police forces for trans-national crime combat, said Mr. Quang.
