Around 400 Chinese and overseas delegates, including governments’ representatives, scholars and experts, focused their discussions on the theme "Co-build a new China-ASEAN growth pole - expand cooperation and turn crisis into opportunities."

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Transport Lê Mạnh Hùng emphasized the importance of accelerating regional cooperation amid the global financial crisis and economic recession, especially harmonizing operations and functions of the Pan-Tonkin Gulf Economic Forum and other frameworks in East Asia, including the "two corridors, one economic belt" between Việt Nam and China.

The Deputy Minister also underscored the necessity to ensure benefits of all member states by selecting reasonable fields of cooperation and respecting international cooperation principles and laws.
