After receiving the license from the Ministry of Information and Communications in October, VNPT fulfilled enough conditions to be able to officially provide the 4G service in Phu Quoc Island in the southern coastal province of Kien Giang.

Besides this, the island is implementing a plan to become the first smart city of the country. The coverage and launch of 4G service in Phu Quoc will boost the development of the island.

The network provider will deploy 4G service in 2017 with 21,000 base transceiver stations which will cover 85% to 100%. In Q1, 2017, VNPT VinaPhone will install over 10,000 BTS.

After Phu Quoc, VinaPhone will deploy the service in Ha Noi, HCM City, and ten other provinces and cities.

4G is the fourth generation of telecommunication technology that is tens of times faster than the previous generation but charges less than or equal with 3G./.
