VN, US make progress in MIA issue

VGP – Việt Nam and the US have made encouraging results in searching remains of American soldiers in Việt Nam, said US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on September 29 at a conference on “The American Experience in Southeast Asia, 1946-1975.”

The US Secretary of State hailed the “unprecedented cooperation” between the Governments and people of the two countries in solving missing in action (MIA) issue.

Ms. Hillary Clinton also made an emphasis that the bilateral ties have been reinforced via different channels of education, culture, business, and people. 

The conference was sponsored by under the US Department of State.

At the conference, the US Department of State’s historians introduced their researches on the US policy regarding Southeast Asia from 1946 until 1975, including over 24,000 pages of official documents, thousands of messages, memoranda, intelligence reports, military assessments, and transcripts of meetings and telephone conversations among key policymakers./.
