VN remains largest shrimp exporter to Germany

VGP – Viet Nam is the largest shrimp provider for Germany, accounting for 18.4% of Germany’s total shrimp imports, according to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

The country gained US$84.4 million from exporting shrimps to Germany over the past nine months of 2015, down 16.5% compared to the same period last year.

In the first nine months of this year, the proportion of white-legged shrimps exported to Germany made up 58% while prawns accounted for 34.7%.

From 2011-2014, Germany was always the largest  importers of Vietnamese shrimps in the EU.

In 2014, Viet Nam’s shrimps exported to Germany made up 20.5% of its total shrimps exported to the EU. 

Frozen shrimps are main products sold to Germany, accounting for 56.4% of the total shrimp export turnover in the first half of 2015.
