VN joins United Nations Alliance of Civilizations

VGP – Becoming a member of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), Việt Nam will have more opportunities to acquire plentiful cultural values of other nation and share her experience of national development, said a Vietnamese diplomat.

Ambassador Bùi Thế Giang, Deputy Permanent Representative of Việt Nam at the United Nations (UN), made the statement at the Ministerial Meeting of the UNAOC.

At the meeting, Mr. Jorge Sampaio, High Representative of the UNAOC, officially announced Việt Nam’s full membership of the alliance.

For his part, Ambassador Bùi Thế Giang pledged that Việt Nam will do her utmost to facilitate dialogues among different cultures, religions and civilizations.

The UNAOC was founded in 2005 under the initiative of the Governments of Portugal and Turkey in an attempt to boost dialogues and cooperation among different cultures, civilizations and regions.
