VN, Japan work together in human resources development

Co-hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and IM Japan – an organisation for international human resources development, the event saw more than 700 Japanese businesses and diplomats, including MP Takebe Arata and Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance Takebe Tsutomu.

Speaking at the event, the NA Vice Chairwoman said human resources development has been Vietnam’s top priority towards boasting a pool of skilled and disciplined workers as the country hopes to become a modern industrialised nation by 2020.

As such, Viet Nam is keenly interested in cooperating in human resources training and development with Japan, one of the world’s leading industrial countries, she added.

Ngan highly appreciated IM Japan’s efforts to support Viet Nam in fundraising for the implementation of a training project for impoverished youth and hoped for its continued cooperation with Viet Nam in signed programmes.

Viet Nam and Japan have been working together on dozens of human resources projects, including a programme where Vietnam sends orderlies to Japan for vocational training courses in accordance with the Viet Nam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA), Minister Chuyen noted.

She said that Viet Nam pays special attention to providing jobs for Vietnamese apprentices when they return home, particularly at Japan’s factories in Viet Nam.

Viet Nam has sent over 80,000 apprentices to work in Japan’s industrial, agricultural and fishery establishments since 1992.

During the visit, she also had a working session with Japanese Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Yasuhisa Shiozaki who hoped to foster the bilateral relationship with Viet Nam.

During the MoLISA’s previous visit to Japan in July, the two sides inked a Memorandum of Understanding on collaboration in multiple fields.-VNA
