VGP – The 9th World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia was organized in Việt Nam because the country is one of the fastest developing economies in the world, said Mr. Klaus Schawb.

Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum  Klaus Schawb

The WEF Founder and Executive Chairman shared his impressions after the 9th forum wrapped up in Hồ Chí Minh City this afternoon.

Regarding the reason why the WEF chose Việt Nam to host the event, he said that with a population of nearly 90 million and a dynamic economy, Việt Nam offers real opportunities for investors.

Hồ Chí Minh City was indeed a suitable place as it is a big and vibrant economic center in ASEAN region, the WEF Chairman said.

The Vietnamese Government and people’s hospitality made our choice more meaningful. All delegates felt comfortable though the agenda was so hard, he added.

Plentiful discussions were attended by an ever biggest number of delegates, including regional leaders and business executives.

We will see a geo-political and geo-economic shift from the West to the East, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific, Mr. Klaus Schawb said when referring to a rising Asia.

Europe may see slow economic growth this year, the US moderate, Latin America optimistic and Asia extremely vigorous, especially in emerging economies, and it is why Asia will have to take greater responsibility in a wider world, he predicted.

Many people have talked about the BRIC which normally refers to such emerging countries with high-speed growth rates as Brazil, Russian Federation, India, and China. But it is time to lengthen the list to ASEAN countries and the group should be renamed to ABRIC in the near future, Mr. Klaus Schawb stated.
