VN expects WHO to help reform health system
VGP – Viet Nam is willing to enhance cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) in medical technique and expertise to soon achieve and exceed targets set in the Strategy on health care and protection for the 2020-2030 period.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement during his reception for WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific Takeshi Kasai on December 17 in Ha Noi.
At the meeting, Takeshi Kasai reported some contents of the WHO’s Report on reforming health system in the way of expanding qualified health care with reasonable expenditures for Vietnamese people.
The Report has proposed the Vietnamese Government on mid and long-term policy making and reform in some prioritized sectors towards universal health care coverage for all the people.
Deputy PM Dam spoke highly of support of the WHO for Viet Nam over the recent 40 years in all spheres of disaster prevention and control, prevention of infectious and non-communicable diseases, expanded immunization, health care system development, human resources development, health policy establishment and counseling, reform of health financing, aid coordination, health insurance, Millennium Development Goals, tuberculosis, malaria and HIV.
Viet Nam expects to join hands with the WHO to successfully establish a more modern and complete health system, heading to fairness, effectiveness and development, meeting the increasing and diversified demands of the people on health care and protection as well as reduce morbidity and mortality, increase life expectancy and improve the quality of life, Dam said.
The Vietnamese Deputy PM hoped that the WHO will help Viet Nam strengthen its health system including primary health care towards universal health care coverage, supervision and responding to community health issues and the establishment and amendment to laws related to health care.
