VN expects to contribute more to efforts of international community
VGP – Viet Nam’s nomination to the United Nations Security Council has manifested the diplomatic policy of peace, independence and self-reliance as well as the country’s hope to make contribution to the joint efforts of the international community for peace, security and sustainable development.

Speaking at the event with the participation of more than 100 high-ranking leaders, FMs, Ambassadors and representatives of UN nations, the Deputy PM asserted that if Viet Nam wins the seat, the nation will enhance dialogues and cooperation to prevent conflicts, address international disputes with peaceful measures, protect people in disputes and tackle consequences of wars, establish a sustainable peaceful area as well as boost cooperation between the UN Security Council and other regional organizations.
Thanks to the support from other nations, Mr. Minh expected that Viet Nam will fulfill its tasks as a member of the UN Security Council, making contributions to peace and security in the region and the world.
Representatives from other countries expressed their belief that Viet Nam will successfully carry out its role as the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and contribute to work of the UN and the international community.
At the meeting with Australian, Slovakian, Slovenian and Ugandan diplomats, Mr. Minh extended his thanks to them for their condolences over the passing of State President Tran Dai Quang.
He proposed partners in the EU to back and boost the official signing of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement.
These foreign diplomats asserted to consider suggestions of Viet Nam and actively coordinate with Viet Nam in maintaining international peace and security and making contributions to sustainability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
At the meeting with Australian FM Marise Payne, the two sides discussed measures to accelerate economics and trade, including exports of farm products and enhance trade freedom and regional economic connection.
Australia will support Viet Nam to join more in the peace-keeping force, establish an e-Government and strengthen exchanges at ASEAN, APEC and UN.
During the meeting with Slovakian FM Miroslav Lajcak, Deputy PM Minh asked Slovakia to facilitate Vietnamese businesses' investment in Slovakia and Overseas Vietnamese's stable life in the country.
While receiving Slovenian FM Karl Erjavec, Mr. Minh suggested the two sides negotiate and sign some frame cooperative agreements, including the double taxation avoidance agreement and the bilateral agreements on the equivalence of education as well as promote cooperation in maritime transport, tourism and pharmacy.
At the meeting with Ugandan Minister of State for Foreign Affair Henry Oryem Okello, Deputy PM Minh required the Ugandan Government to advocate and facilitate the Vietnamese enterprises to export more advantageous products to Uganda and Viet Nam’s businesses, including Viettel to seek for pour investment in Uganda.
The two sides agreed to soon negotiate and ink the visa exemption agreement for diplomatic or official passport holders.
While meeting with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan, Deputy PM Minh affirmed that Viet Nam attaches importance to the relationship with the U.S., expecting to boost the relations in the pillars of economics, trade, education-training, science-technology.
Heading to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties by 2020, the two sides consented to strengthen delegation exchanges and maintain close coordination between the two foreign affairs agencies.
The same occasion, Mr. Minh suggested the U.S. continue assistance for Viet Nam to overcome consequences of the war, especially the implementation of project on dioxin remediation in the Bien Hoa airport.
