VN, China pledge to solve East Sea issue
VGP - China and Việt Nam should constantly negotiate for a appropriate settlement of the East Sea issue, said PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng.

The Government chief made the statement during his meeting with Chinese Deputy FM Zhang Zhijun who is on a working visit to Việt Nam.
The issue should be addressed on the basis of the common awareness of the two countries’ high-ranking leaders, compradeship and brotherhood, Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and experience gained during the land border negotiations, PM Dũng stressed.
In fact, the two countries have actively joined the settlement process, so peace and stability have been maintained in the East Sea and divergences have been gradually narrowed, the Vietnamese leader noted.
He expressed his hope that the two sides would continue listening attentively to each other’s opinions so as to achieve real progress on the issue.
Whatever the context is, the settlement of the issue should not affect the Việt Nam-China traditional friendship, PM Dũng said.
Praising the positive results of the talks between Deputy Foreign Minister, Head of the government negotiation delegation of Việt Nam, Hồ Xuân Sơn, and the Chinese Deputy FM on April 18, the PM said that the outcomes would contribute to boosting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Việt Nam and China.
He affirmed the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy to attach importance to deepening such relationship with China.
Regarding the land border, PM urged the two sides to speed up exchanges and negotiations for early signing of agreements on economic and tourism cooperation along the borderline.
For his part, Chinese Deputy FM Zhang Zhijun said that the remaining issue between Việt Nam and China is to solve differences in the East Sea following positive achievements gained in land border field.
He confirmed that China would continue working with Việt Nam to find out basic and long-term solutions for the East Sea issue that would satisfy both sides.
