VN, China hold strategic dialogue on national defense

VGP – The first ministerial-level strategic dialogue on national defense between Việt Nam and China was held in Hà Nội on November 27 between Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyễn Chí Vịnh and Deputy Chief of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Staff, Senior Lieutenant General Ma Xiaotian.

The two sides noted the advancements of the bilateral military ties during the past time and agreed that the strategic dialogue between the two armies is an important cooperation mechanism for further consolidation and enhancement of mutual political understanding and confidence of the strategic partnership for comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

On the same day, Mr. Ma Xiaotian met with Mr. Trương Tấn Sang, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Việt Nam.


Appraising the outcomes of the dialogue, Mr. Sang said that national defense cooperation is an important element of the strategic ties between Việt Nam and China.

He hoped that the armies of the two countries will boost practical exchanges and cooperation to deepen the national defense relations and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The two countries should beef up national defense and security cooperation to strengthen the bilateral strategic relationship, said Mr. Ma Xiaotian.
