VN calls for peaceful settlement of Temple conflict

VGP - Việt Nam hopes that Cambodia and Thailand would address the conflict in the area near the Preah Vihear Temple through peaceful negotiations in accordance with the international law.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Phương Nga made the statement on February 7 when answering questions regarding the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.  

“As a member of ASEAN, Việt Nam is deeply concerned about the conflict over the area near the Preah Vihear Temple on the border between Cambodia and Thailand,” said the spokesperson.

She added that Việt Nam called on the two sides to exercise self-refrain so as not to make the situation more complicated, and settle the issue through peaceful negotiations on the basis of international laws, the United Nations Charter, as well as the ASEAN’s spirit of  friendship and solidarity, for the interest of the two countries’ people, and for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world./.
