VN attends AMMTC-8 in Bali

VGP - Minister of Public Security Lieutenant-general Trần Đại Quang on October 11 led a delegation to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations' 8th Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crimes (AMMTC-8) in Bali, Indonesia.

The event drew the participation of Indonesian Vice President Boediono, ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan, ministers and officials in charge of preventing cross-border crimes from ASEAN member states, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

The ASEAN Secretary General, minister, heads of ASEAN delegations listened to the report of the 11th Senior Officials Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOMTC).

The ASEAN Ministers will attend a private meeting to discuss future cooperation in tackling cross-border crimes; increasing linkages with partner sides within the framework of ASEAN 3 and ASEAN China; reinforcing cooperation in the ASEAN Convention on Counter-Terrorism (ACCT) and anti-human trafficking.

A joint declaration is expected to be adopted during the meeting./.
