VN Airlines receives second Airbus A350-XWB

VGP – Viet Nam Airlines has become the second airline in the world to operate the all-new A350 XWB.

September 24, 2015 3:37 PM GMT+7
“The arrival of the A350 XWB marks the start of a major upgrade of our long haul fleet,” said Trinh Ngoc Thanh, Executive Vice President, Commercial, Viet Nam Airlines.

“Combining the latest technologies, a wider cabin and the highest levels of comfort, the A350 XWB will enable us to fly our passengers in style whichever class of travel they choose. We are proud to be the second airline in the world to receive the A350 XWB aircraft which is a step forward that helps us to fulfil our commitment to “reach further”.”

Viet Nam Airlines confirmed that the new Airbus planes would be used on services from Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to Paris and Seoul, in addition to flights between Viet Nam’s two biggest cities.

The plane, registered as VN-A887, departed from Toulouse, France at 6:30 pm on September 19 (local time) and landed at Noi Bai International Airport at 10:50 am on September 20.

On the occasion, Viet Nam Airlines offered to transport three tonnes of medical equipment donated by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Purpan to the Ha Noi Kidney Hospital free of charge.

The A350 XWB features the latest aerodynamic design, carbon fibre fuselage and wings, plus new fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

Together, these latest technologies translate into unrivalled levels of operational efficiency, with a 25% reduction in fuel burn and emissions, and significantly lower maintenance costs.

Viet Nam Airlines, in an effort to modernise its fleet, has announced its plans of buying 33 new planes, including 14 Airbus A350s, to be delivered between now and 2019.
