Viettel is the first mobile operator to deploy 5G services in Viet Nam

Viettel allowed users to register for the first 5G plans through some internal channels.

The 5G network offers speeds significantly faster than 4G, with theoretical speeds reaching up to 10Gbps.

In real-world conditions, 5G can deliver speeds of 1Gbps, making it 10 times faster than 4G.

Users can choose a 5G data-only plan or a combo that includes voice calls, data, and other free 5G services.

From October 13 to November 15, VinaPhone subscribers with 5G-capable smartphones can join a free high-speed 5G trial, in which they will get 50GB of data for 30 days.

MobiFone, one of the largest telecom service providers in the country, revealed that it is working on a shared infrastructure model with other telecom providers that have compatible 5G frequency bands.

Early this month, MobiFone signed a memorandum of understanding with Ericsson, a Swedish multinational networking and telecommunications company, to jointly develop a 5G innovation center at MobiFone's premises in Viet Nam.

MobiFone will also launch 5G products and services to meet customer needs in the upcoming time, ensuring stable and fast connection quality

The Ministry of Information and Communications officially licensed the deployment of 5G service on April 11, 2024. Two telecommunication service providers -- Viettel and VNPT -- got business licenses and permissions to use the 5G band.

5G mobile connections are forecast to account for nearly 99 percent of total mobile connections in Viet Nam by 2030.
