Vietnamese watermelon to be exported to China
VGP - Watermelon will become the next Vietnamese farm produce to be officially exported to China as it was agreed during the recent visit to Viet Nam by China's Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.
Watermelons exported to China shall be registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam (MARD) and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
Accordingly, the fresh fruit meeting those standards will be exported to this market through designated border gates as agreed upon by the GACC and the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Farming areas must implement Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). Packing facilities must develop a system to ensure that exports have clear sources and can be traced back to their farming zones.
Viet Nam’s agricultural export turnover to China has been on the rise. In the first 11 months of 2023, China spent around US$6.3 billion on importing agricultural products from Viet Nam.
Viet Nam already exported bird's nest, sweet potato, dragon fruit, longan, rambutan, mango, jackfruit, watermelon, banana, mangosteen, lychee, passion fruit and durian together with black jelly to China./.
