Chernyshenko released the above figure while delivering his remarks at the 3rd Conference of Rectors of Universities of Viet Nam and Russia, held in Ha Noi from May 22-23.

He also said that nearly 3,000 Vietnamese students are currently studying at various education establishments in Russia.

Addressing at the conference, Vietnamese Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc thanked Russia for having training thousands of Vietnamese engineers and experts over the past decades.

In recent years, Vietnamese and Russian universities have maintained strong partnerships in training, scientific research, and technological transfer, he noted.

The signing of a higher education cooperation agreement between the two Governments and Russia's offer of more than 1,000 scholarships for Vietnamese students stand as a clear testament to the two countries' strong commitment to close education cooperation, stressed Pham.

He said leaders of the two countries have reaffirmed on several occasions that both sides need to continue stepping up education cooperation, particularly in defense, security, culture, arts, sports, basic sciences, and nuclear energy.

Pham reiterated the Vietnamese Government's determination to create the most favorable conditions for substantive and effective education and training cooperation with Russia in the future./.
