Vietnamese rescue workers finalize quake rescue mission in Myanmar

Myanmar's Minister of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Soe Win expressed his deep gratitude to Viet Nam for its spirit of support, cooperation, and noble international solidarity in the search and rescue efforts following the earthquake.

On March 30, 106 Vietnamese rescue workers from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security arrived in Myanmar to search and rescue individuals trapped in collapsed buildings following the powerful earthquake on 28 March. Finally, they had discovered and taken 28 bodies from rubble and rescued one survivor.

On April 3, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, sent a letter to the officers and professional soldiers involved in the earthquake recovery efforts in Myanmar.

In his letter, General Phan expressed his deep appreciation, noting that the delegation's members had overcome great difficulties to cooperate in locating and retrieving victims from collapsed structures, and handing them over to the local authorities The mission showcased the noble spirit of international solidarity, the fine traditions of the Vietnamese people, and the admirable qualities of the soldiers of Uncle Ho (President Ho Chi Minh).

Notably, during the rescue mission, Vietnamese rescue workers were highly praised by both the Myanmar authorities and the international rescue forces present in the operation.

In addition, Myanmar thanked Viet Nam for dispatching its rescue forces and providing emergency aid worth US300,000 to assist in disaster relief efforts. The Vietnamese rescue delegation also contributed US5,000 from its operational fund to support the Myanmar people./.
