Vietnamese Pho named among world’s top 20 best soups
VGP - CNN Travel listed Vietnamese Pho Bo (Beef Pho) among its Top 20 best soups in the world.
The news channel hailed beef pho as "the most beloved version in Viet Nam."
CNN Travel quoted Andrea Nguyen, author of "The Pho Cookbook", as sayings that the broth is simmered for hours and seasoned with cinnamon, star anise and other warm spices in order to create a wonderfully aromatic base for this rice noodle soup.
According to Andrea Nguyen, pho restaurants today serve many different flavors, but the original beef remains. In 1930, pho was served with slices of raw beef blanched in broth (rare beef).
"Today, beef pho remains the most beloved version in Viet Nam, with options that include the original raw beef, a mix of raw and cooked beef, brisket and tendon," CNN wrote.
Previously, Vietnamese pho has also featured several times as one of the best dishes in the world. World travel guide book publisher the Lonely Planet hailed Vietnamese cuisine as the world's 20th best food experience, while international food magazine TasteAtlas ranked beef pho in third place among the 10 dishes with the best meat broth in the world in 2023.
Other soups featured on CNN's list include Nigeria's banga, made from palm fruit extract, France's bouillabaisse seafood soup, China's lanzhou beef noodle soup, Indonesia's soto ayam (chicken noodle soup), and Japan's iconic ramen./.
