According to Poet Hữu Thỉnh, President of the Việt Nam Writers’ Association, the Conference will help foreign translators, researchers and publishers to have a better understanding of the history and values of the Vietnamese literature. This will be the good foundation to design plans on introducing the Vietnamese literature to the world systematically through a new vision in the context when Việt Nam is integrating into the international community in all fields.

"The introduction of typical Vietnamese works of literature to the world plays a significant role in strengthening peace and enriching knowledge of humankind. Thus, Việt Nam always attaches importance to popularizing its culture through works of literature in order to provide international friends with insights in Việt Nam."

- Deputy PM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân

The conference is also expected to be a good chance for

cultural and literature exchanges and stronger solidarity between Nam and other countries.

Delegates will focus their discussions on four topics, namely ancient Vietnamese literature, modern Vietnamese prose, temporary Vietnamese poem and young Vietnamese writers.

Many foreign translators and writers who have made great contributions in bringing Vietnamese literature to the world presented themselves at the conference, including Kevin Bowen, Lady Borton, Bruce Weigle, and George Evans.
