Vietnamese leader's special envoy meets DPRK's top legislative leader in Pyongyang

VGP – Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, special envoy of General Secretary and President To Lam met with Jo Yong-won, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Pyongyang on May 15.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung

Le, who is on a visit to the Northeast Asian nation to announce the outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress, conveyed the message of General Secretary and President To Lam to General Secretary and President of the State Affairs Commission.

He said that the 14th National Party Congress set out major targets and strategic orientations for the future of Viet Nam in its new development era.

Viet Nam is determined to build a country of peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilization and happiness. The Southeast Asian nation will remain steadfast with its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, resilience, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multi-lateralization of external relations.

The special envoy affirmed that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam always wish to ceaselessly cultivate and advance relations with the DPRK in a substantive and effective manner, in line with the common aspirations of the people of the two countries, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Jo, for his side, reassured the DPRK's consistent stance of further developing the fine traditional friendly relationship with Viet Nam across all fields, from politics, economy, to culture in accordance with the high-level agreement reached in Pyongyang in October 2025.

The DPRK expects that both countries would work together to consolidate political trust and promote cooperation across various areas to ensure sustainable paradigm of the bilateral ties, said Jo.

During his DRPK, Le also met Director of the International Department of the DPRK Workers' Party and held talks with Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui./.
