Vietnamese leaders extend condolences over Fiji super cyclone

VGP – State President Truong Tan Sang and PM Nguyen Tan Dung on March 3 cabled messages of condolences to Fiji President Jiojo Konousi Konrote and PM Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama over the serious losses of lives and properties from the recent super cyclone in Fiji.

The same day, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh also conveyed a message of condolences to Fiji FM Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.

The cyclone, one of the most powerful storms in the Southernhemisphere, tore through Fiji on February 20. The Fiji declared the national disaster within 30 days and issued a curfew at 6:00PM (local time) to ensure safety for its citizens. The cyclonekilled 44 people and left 35,000 people homeless./.
