Vietnamese FM holds phone conversations with Russian, Ukranian counterparts
VGP – Viet Nam sincerely wishes that Russia and Ukraine would exercise restraint, ease tensions, and continue dialogues to seek a long-term solution on the basis of international law with legitimate interests of the parties concerned taken into account.
Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized the point during his phone conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on March 15 and 16, respectively.
Bui explained that Viet Nam is a traditional friend of both Russia and Ukraine, affirming that the Southeast Asian country stands ready to join hands with international community to contribute to the aforesaid process.
He reiterated Viet Nam's consistent policy that international disputes and differences must be settled through peaceful measures in compliance with the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the principle of respecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries
Bui suggested Russia and Ukraine continue organizing humanitarian corridors and taking measures to ensure safety for civilians, including Vietnamese nationals in Ukraine and help them to move away from war zones.
Both Russian and Ukranian diplomats expressed their wishes to continue sustaining and enhancing cooperation with Viet Nam, pledging to try their best to facilitate the evacuation of Vietnamese citizens.
