The 81-years-old man, with Greek name as Kostas Sarantidis and Vietnamese name, Nguyễn Văn Lập, has been honored for his great contributions to Việt Nam during his services in the Vietnamese army and other fields from 1946 to 1965, and to helping strengthen Việt Nam-Greece friendship.

Since returning Greece in late 1965, Kostas has organized many activities supporting Việt Nam and linking the two countries. In 2009, he offered cash to help Vietnamese children in need of heart surgeries and victims of Agent Orange.

“Today is another happy day in my life after the one when I joined the Vietnamese People’s Army in June 1946,” said Kostas at the granting ceremony, adding that receiving Vietnamese nationality is a great honor of his./.
