Vietnamese, Chinese Party chiefs exchange Lunar New Year greetings

VGP – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping exhanged greetings on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year festival in the two countries.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the positive development and significant progress in the relations between the two Parties and countries across all fields since the historic visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in October 2022 after the 20th National Party Congress of the Communist Party of China.

The two Party leaders highly valued the significane and diverse outcomes of the State visit to Viet Nam by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping in December 2023, during which both sides issued a Joint Statement on continuing deepening and elevating the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a Viet Nam-China community with shared future that carries strategic significance, and signed 36 cooperative documents which indicated the two countries' determination and laid a strategic orientation for long-term development of the relations between the two Parties and countries in the new period.

Looking towards 2024, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his wish taht all sectors, administrations at all levels and localities will abide by the high-level agreements and common perceptions and promote the bilateral ties in a healthy, stable, substantive and efficient manner, for the interests of the two peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping expressed his wish that both sides will promote high-quality cooperation and exhanges across all channels, levels, and fields, thus reinforcing the impetus for the modernization causes in the two countries and making greater contributions to peace and progress of thue human kind.

The two Party chiefs wished the Parties, States and peoples of the two countries peace, health, and happiness in the new year; and Viet Nam and China greater prosperity and development./.
