Vietnam attracts almost 7.5 billion USD in FDI
VNGOP - The foreign direct investment (FDI) flow into Vietnam has reached almost 7.5 billion USD in the first seven months of this year, up nearly 50 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). Of the total capital, some 6.37 billion USD was put in 717 newly-licensed projects and the rest was capital increases in 196 existing projects.
Investments in the industrial sector amounted to 3.43 billion USD, making up 53.8 percent of the newly licensed capital while the service sector attracted 2.81 billion USD, or 44.1 percent.
Vietnam licensed 142 FDI projects in July alone, with the total registered capital of 2,023 million USD, and 36 expanded projects with a price tag of 85 million USD.
MPI has attributed the big increase to active investment promotions by various ministries domestically and abroad.
