Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang made the above statement on January 8 at the ministry's press briefing regarding the inquiry about Viet Nam's stance after U.S. President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum directing executive departments and agencies to take immediate steps to effectuate the withdrawal of the U.S. from 66 international organizations.

The withdrawal means ceasing U.S. participation in or funding to those entities to the extent permitted by law, according to the Memorandum.

"We hope that countries will continue to uphold multilateralism and make active contributions to building and strengthening multilateral institutions and international law for peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development worldwide", she underlined.

Viet Nam stands ready to join and contribute to global and regional multilateral mechanisms to the best of its ability, Pham emphasized./.
