Viet Nam’s pomelos official available in Australia
VGP - A ceremony was held in Ha Noi on October 9 to announce the export of Vietnamese pomelos to Australia and Australian blueberries to Viet Nam.

The event was jointly organized by the Plant Production and Protection Department, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and the Australian Embassy in Viet Nam.
So far, pomelo has become the eighth type of Vietnamese fruit permitted for export to Australia. The others include dragon fruit, mango, longan, rambutan, lychee, star apple, and passion fruit.
Meanwhile, blueberry is also the eighth type of Australian fruit allowed to be imported into Viet Nam, along with grapes, oranges, mandarins, cherries, peaches and nectarines, and plums.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung said that it is a vivid testament to the trustworthy cooperation between the two countries, for sustainable development and benefits of farmers and consumers in both countries while reflecting the spirit of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
Fresh Vietnamese pomelos are now available in the markets of 14 countries and territories, including the U.S., South Korea, and New Zealand.
Viet Nam is currently the world's second-largest pomelo producer, with about 110,000 hectares under cultivation and an annual output of over 1.2 million tons.
The Southeast Asian nation's fruit and vegetable exports were estimated to reach more than US$6.11 billion in the first nine months of 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 8.3 percent.
September alone saw exports hitting nearly US$1.29 billion, the highest monthly figure ever recorded. This represented a surge of 36 percent compared to August and 41 percent compared to the same month last year.
With this strong growth momentum, the sector is on track to approach or even surpass US$8 billion by the end of the year./.
