Viet Nam’s overseas investment nears US$22 bln

VGP - As of late April, Vietnamese firms invested in 1,643 projects overseas with the total registered capital of US$21.93 billion.

Of the figure, 141 projects, valued at nearly US$11.67 billion, were owned by State-owned enterprises, accounting for nearly 53.2 percent, according to the statistics provided by the Foreign Investment Agency, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Among 13 sectors receiving Vietnamese investment, the communications and information industry took the lead as the investment capital makes up 69 percent of the total. 

It was followed by agriculture-forestry-fisheries, manufacturing and processing and mining.

As many as 20 countries and territories recorded Vietnamese investment in the first four months of 2023, with Singapore being the biggest destination as it received nearly US$103.3 million, accounting for 62.3 percent, followed by Laos, Australia and Cuba.
