Viet Nam to continue active contributions to world peace movements
VGP - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc November 3 hosted a reception for an international delegation attending the 22nd Congress of the World Peace Council taking place in Ha Noi.
The delegation includes World Peace Council President Socorro Gomes Coelho, World Peace Council Secretary General Athanasios Pafilis, Viet Nam Peace Committee Chairman Uong Chu Luu, and leaders of many Vietnamese ministries and branches.
Speaking at the meeting, leaders of the World Peace Council and the Peace Councils of all countries expressed their respect and affection for President Ho Chi Minh. They admired the traditions and achievements of the country and the heroic Vietnamese people - a symbol of world peace.
The delegates highly appreciated Viet Nam's substantial transformation in all aspects and expressed their desire to cooperate with Viet Nam to maintain world peace for a fair and just world.
The President affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people always appreciate and remember the valuable support of democratic and national progressive organizations for Viet Nam's struggle for national independence in the past, as well as in the construction and defence of the country today.
Viet Nam highly appreciates the World Peace Council and its member organizations for preventing war and imperialist aggression and building a world of peace and justice, especially those supporting the national liberation struggles of countries and war victims.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sincerely thanked the World Peace Council for actively supporting Viet Nam at international forums and supporting Vietnamese Agent Orange/dioxin victims.
In the current world with many threats to peace and development, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc believed that the Council would continue its noble mission of gathering forces that love peace, democracy and progress in the fight for a world of peace, justice and sustainable development./.
