Viet Nam, Turkey vow to raise two-way trade to US$4 billion

VGP – Viet Nam and Turkey have agreed to advance economic cooperation in a practical and effective fashion in a bid to soon raise the two-way trade to US$4 billion.

The agreement was reached by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz in Ankara capital on November 29.

The above target can be achieved through opening up markets for agricultural products and goods of both sides’ strength, signing a free trade agreement, and increasing the frequency of flights between the two countries

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz affirmed Turkey considers Viet Nam one of its priority parters in ASEAN, particularly in such fields like economy, trade, invesetment, defense and security, and tourism.

Boths sides agreed to continue consolidating and promoting the fine political-diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two ruling parties as well as coordination and mutual support at international forums and organizations.

Prime Minister Pham invited Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz to pay an official visit to Viet Nam in 2024. The latter accepted the invitation with pleasure.

After the talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in agriculture and forestry between Viet Nam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Turkey’s Ministry of Forestry, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Viet Nam’s Diplomacy Academy and Turkey’s Diplomacy Academy, and a Letter of Intent for Cooperation between Viet Nam’s national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines and Turkish Airlines./.
