VGP – The Government has tasked the Ministry of Health to purchase 21.9 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children aged between 5 to under 12 years of age.
The procurement of the vaccine shall be carried out in accordance with Article 26 of the Law on Bidding, the Government said Saturday.
Viet Nam acquired more than 206 million vaccine doses between March 2021 and January 4, 2022, of which 182,102,962 have been administered, according to the Ministry of Health.
The rate at which the Government has been able to distribute safely the vaccines has been astonishing and Viet Nam needs to feel very proud indeed of the Government's mobilization to get the vaccine to the people, said UNICEF Representative in Viet Nam Rana Flowers in her recent interview with the VGP.
As of now, Viet Nam has achieved very high vaccination coverage, which is largely credited to the country's strong commitment from the highest level of the Government, active participation of related ministries, the fact that the people themselves understood the power of vaccination to protect from overburdened health systems and from death of their loved ones.
She went on to day that the country has exhibited amazing commitment and solidarity towards COVID-19 vaccination and as the result, managed to secure large quantities of various COVID-19 vaccine products./.
