The above figure exceeds the Government's previous target of raising the total length of expressways to 3,000km by this year's end.

Tran said the ministry is preparing for a grand ceremony to inaugurate and commence construction of 239 investment projects, including 87 inauguration projects on December 19 to  celebrate the 14th National Party Congress.

The total investment capital of these projects is estimated at around VND 1,240,537 billion, of which state budget capital accounts for about 44 percent, or VND 545.2 trillion.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has repeatedly emphasized that expressway development is a top national priority, describing the network as "the arteries of the economy." The Government has also launched nationwide campaigns to accelerate site clearance, construction progress and disbursement of public investment to ensure all key segments are completed on schedule.

The Government aims for 5,000 km of expressways by 2030 and around 9,000 km by 2050./.
