Viet Nam to formulate strong marine-based economic centers
VGP – Viet Nam targets to formulate strong marine-based economic centers and large-scale marine economic entities, said Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Chairman of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission.

Nguyen made the above statement on Wednesday while briefing about major contents of a new resolution on blue economy adopted at the 3rd plenum of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
The 14th National Party Congress identified sea as the new growth space where new growth poles, economic sectors, and development drivers will be formulated, he said.
From that perspective, Viet Nam will prioritize the development of maritime logistics, offshore renewable energy, marine minerals exploitation, coastal urban areas, high-tech industries, marine biotechnology, and new blue economic sectors, said Nguyen.
To realize the above goals, the resolution stresses the need to renovate mindset, improve public awareness as well as national sea governance efficiency and effectiveness; improve institutions and innovate marine space planning work.
The resolution also lays emphasis on environmental protection, marine ecosystem preservation, and international cooperation to turn Viet Nam into a strong maritime nation./.
