Viet Nam to exempt tuition for all public school pupils from 2025-2026 academic year
VGP – The Politburo has just decided to waive tuition fees for all public school pupils from 2025-2026 academic year.
The beneficiaries include pupils at primary, junior and high schools (normally aged between six and 18).
The Politburo tasked the Government to direct the Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies and localities to formulate plans to implement the decision, ensuring rights beneficiaries.
The move aims to guarantee that all children have chance to go to schools and opportunities to learn.
At present, many localities including Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, and Da Nang have exempted tuition fees for pre-school children and pupils.
There are about 23 million preschool children and high school students nationwide each year. According to current regulations, monthly tuition for a preschooler ranges from VND50,000 to 540,000 per month; high school pupils from VND50,000 to 650,000 depending on level of education, urban or rural area, ethnic minorities and mountainous areas.
The specific tuition fees for each locality shall be decided by the provincial/municipal People's Council and not exceed the limits prescribed by the central Government./.
