General Secretary To Lam made the above statement in his remarks on Monday at the opening ceremony of the 15th plenum of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

During the plenum, the Central Committee will review preparations for the 14th National Party Congress; discuss personnel work and documents to be submitted to the Party Congress.

Regarding personnel work, the Central Committee will finalize a list of candidates for election of official and alternate members to the 14th Central Committee, members to the Politburo, members to the Secretariat, and top leaders for the 2026-2030 tenure.

Nomination of candidates for the top leadership posts, including the General Secretary, the State President, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the National Assembly, and the Standing member of the Secretariat – or "Five Pillars" is of special importance and it must be carried out in a thorough, cautious and accurate manner, said General Secretary To Lam.
