Viet Nam-Russia friendship overcomes test of time: Russian FM

The friendship and sympathy between the Vietnamese and Russian people have overcome the test of time and political circumstances, said Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov in his opening speech at an exhibition marking the 75th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties in Moscow on February 11.
Minister Lavrov emphasized the steady development of Viet Nam-Russia relations across multiple fields, including trade, energy, science, education, culture, and international cooperation.
He highlighted the two countries' close coordination at the United Nations on regional and global issues.
Reflecting on 75 years of partnership, Lavrov expressed confidence that both countries could take pride in their achievements and work toward an even stronger future for the benefit of their people and regional stability.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi thanked Minister Lavrov for his warm words and the Russian Foreign Ministry for organizing this meaningful celebration.
The exhibition at the event displayed significant milestones in the 75-year friendship between Viet Nam and Russia.
Ambassador Khoi recalled the foundational role of President Ho Chi Minh and early Vietnamese communists in fostering ties in the 1920s.
He noted that the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1950 set both nations on a path of trusted partnership.
He also highlighted the Soviet Union's vital contributions to Viet Nam's struggle for independence and post-war reconstruction, including training generations of Vietnamese scientists and intellectuals.
Many of these individuals played key roles in Viet Nam's scientific achievements, including space exploration and the global arts scene.
Since upgrading ties to a strategic partnership in 2001 and a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012, Viet Nam and Russia have maintained regular high-level exchanges and effective cooperation in defense, security, economy, science, education, and culture.
Ambassador Khoi emphasized that 2025 marks several major anniversaries, including the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam's independence, and the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
He expressed confidence that these milestones would create new opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation and expand economic and trade relations to match the high level of political trust.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, guests from both sides raised their glasses to celebrate this significant occasion and wished for the continued growth of the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, benefiting both nations and contributing to global peace and prosperity./.
