The national tally includes 2,017,268 locally transmitted cases recorded since April 27, 2021 when the fourth COVID-19 wave began.

The same day, the ministry reported 9,326 recoveries, taking the total number of recovered cases to 1,727,290.

The ministry also announced further 129 fatalities, bringing the nation’s COVID-19 death toll to 35,609 or 1.8 percent of the total infections.

The nation has administered 168,003,163 COVID-19 vaccine doses, an increase of 1,057,845 doses from Saturday./.
