The diplomat made the statement at the ministry’s regular press conference held virtually on September 9.

On September 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the U.S. to continue assistance for Viet Nam's fight against COVID-19 through suitable forms, especially in implementing the vaccine strategy, at a reception for Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Viet Nam Christopher Klein and American business representatives.

So far, the U.S. has donated 6 million doses of vaccines to Viet Nam via the COVAX Facility. Through USAID and the CDC, an additional US$23 million in technical assistance is made available to Viet Nam. The U.S Department of Defense also committed to providing  77 temperature vaccine freezers for vaccine distribution throughout the country.

Viet Nam always regards the US one of its top important partners, affirmed the vice spokesperson.

Since the two countries lifted their relationship to comprehensive partnership level in 2013, the bilateral ties have developed with practical results reaped in important areas, both bilaterally and multilaterally, bringing substantial benefits to the two countries’ people and enterprises and contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.

Doan said the two countries’ leaders have agreed to further strengthen bilateral ties, especially cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, national defense-security, settlement of post-war consequences, climate change response, education, health care, science and technology./.
