Germany gifts Viet Nam with additional four million COVID-19 vaccine doses
VGP - Viet Nam on Tuesday received 4,000,230 doses of BioNTech/Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine donated by Germany via the international vaccine platform COVAX
This is the largest vaccine donation from Germany to Viet Nam to date, bringing the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses gifted by the European country to over 10 million doses.
The German Ambassador to Viet Nam, Dr. Guido Hildner, stated that with this new delivery, Germany continued its support for Viet Nam in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Continued high numbers of infections and the Omicron variant spreading at a rapid pace worldwide showed that the pandemic was far from being defeated, he said, adding that Germany would continue to show solidarity with Viet Nam in 2022 in this fight.
Germany has already provided Viet Nam with vaccines and medical equipment on several occasions in 2021.
Germany is proud to continue supporting Viet Nam's vaccination campaign with these donations and to actively demonstrate deepened cooperation within the framework of the Strategic Partnership between Germany and Viet Nam, underscored Guido Hildner.
So far Viet Nam has received a total of more than 51 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines via the COVAX Facility.
According to the Ministry of Health, by mid-Tuesday, Viet Nam has received 209.6 million vaccine doses so far, 177.4 million of which were administered./.
