Viet Nam pursues consistent human rights policy
VGP - Viet Nam’s consistent policy on protecting and promoting human rights has been specified in the 2013 Constitution and many other legal documents, said Spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.
Ms. Le made the above statement at the ministry’s press conference on September 22 in Ha Noi in response to reporters’ queries on Viet Nam’s reaction to some international human rights organizations’ controversial opinions about Viet Nam's candidacy for the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
Viet Nam completely rejects the untruthful, subjective contents with prejudices that some foreign organizations have raised about the situation in Viet Nam, said the diplomat.
Previously, in March 2022, Viet Nam published a voluntary midterm report on the implementation of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) third cycle recommendations.
The UPR demonstrates the responsibility of a member state, as well as the transparency and seriousness of Viet Nam towards the UPR mechanism in particular and in the implementation of international commitments on human rights in general.
Viet Nam also actively shows the spirit of cooperation with the special procedures of the UN Human Rights Council.
The country also regularly maintains a bilateral human rights dialogue mechanism with several countries, and is willing to provide and exchange issues of mutual concern in the spirit of frankness, openness and mutual respect, she stressed./.
