Viet Nam mull over additional public holidays
VGP - Lawmakers on Wednesday discussed the Government's proposal to add (Vietnamese Cultural Day) November 24 to the Labor Code as a paid public holiday.

Several lawmakers also suggested that Viet Nam's War Invalids and Martyrs Day should become another public paid holiday.
All public holidays in Viet Nam shall be regulated by the Labor Code.
The proposed amendment aims to harmonize existing regulations and institutionalize the Party's and State's policies on Vietnamese cultural development.
Major public holidays include New Year's Day (January 1), Lunar New Year (Tet), Hung Kings Commemoration Day (10th day of the third lunar month), Reunification Day (April 30), International Labor Day (May 1), and National Day (September 2).
Tet is the country's most important traditional festival, providing an opportunity for family reunions and cultural celebrations. Reunification Day and National Day commemorate significant milestones in Viet Nam's history and national development.
Under Viet Nam's Labor Code, employees are entitled to fully paid leave on public holidays. The specific holiday schedule for Tet and National Day is determined annually. If a public holiday falls on an employee's weekly day off, the employee is entitled to a compensatory day off on the next working day./.
