Pham, who is on a five-day visit to Malaysia, made the above statement during his meeting with representatives of Vietnamese community in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday morning.

Viet Nam and Malaysia set up diplomatic relations on March 30, 1973 and elevated their ties to Strategic Partnership in August 2015.

Both countries decided to further lift up their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during General Secretary To Lam's official visit to Malaysia in November 2024.

The two-way trade reached nearly US$18 billion in 2024, according to the Prime Minister.

He appreciated the contributions of overseas Vietnamese people, including those living and working in Malaysia, to national construction and development process.

The Party and State of Viet Nam always consider overseas Vietnamese community as an indispensible part of the and an important resource of the nation, affirmed the Government chief.

He said that the National Assembly will debate amendments to the current Law on Identity, Law on Housing, Law on Land and Law on Nationality to create the most favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese people to make contributions to the national construction and development process.

Pham also tasked the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Foreign Ministry to put forward a thorough plan to build Vietnamese language teaching centers abroad.

During his stay in Malaysia, Prime Minister Pham is expected to hold summit meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and attend the 46th ASEAN Summit./.
