PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the remarks while hosting a reception in Ha Noi on July 25 for Bunthoong Chitmany, Deputy PM of Laos, President of the Government Inspection Authority of Laos (GIA) and Head of the Anti-Corruption Authority.

Addressing the meeting, the host spoke highly of the co-operative relations between the two countries’ inspection bodies over the past years, which, he said, has contributed to fostering the Viet Nam-Laos traditional friendly relations, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation.

He hailed the outcomes of the talks between the inspection authorities of both nations, while applauding the Lao government’s strong campaigns in the prevention and combat against corruption.

Viet Nam is drastically fighting corruption, PM Phucsaid, noting that the country’s inspection work closely follow key political tasks focusing on the sensitive areas and those of public concern.

He stressed the necessity for both countries to step up the fight against corruption and pledged Viet Nam’s support of Laos in this drive.

He expressed his wish that the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam (GIV) and the GIA would continue working closely with each other and speed up co-operation in experience sharing and personnel training, in order to help the two governments obtain new achievements in the area.

GIA President Bunthoong Chitmany briefed PMPhuc on the outcomes of the working session between the GIV and GIA delegations earlier the same day, during which the hosts and the guests discussed experience in inspection work, corruption prevention and combat, and handling complaints and denunciations.

On behalf of the Lao government, Mr Chitmany extended his sincere thanks to the Vietnamese Party, government and people for supporting the Lao Party, government and people in the process of national construction and development. He voiced his wish that the Viet Nam-Laos special friendly relations would continue to flourish and last forever.
