Viet Nam-Korea cooperation center for smart city and construction technology makes debut

The ceremony was jointly organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The center, located at the Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities in Ha Noi, made debut after 52 months of construction.

It aims to promote research and training on smart cities and advanced construction technology to contribute to smart urban development in Viet Nam with a view to gradually concretizing the nation's guidelines and policies in promoting smart and sustainable urban development until 2030.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van expressed his hope that the center will make active contributions to realizing national strategies for sustainable smart urban development in Viet Nam.

He suggested the Korean side continue sharing information and experience in designing laws, policies on urban and housing development, especially smart urban development and social housing and strengthening the staff's capacity in terms of construction and urban management.

On July 16, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on urban and housing development was inked between the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Earlier, the Prime Minister approved the Viet Nam smart sustainable city development plan in the period of 2018-2025, orientations towards 2030.

The plan targets to facilitate green growth and sustainable development, tapping into potential and advantages, enhancing the efficiency of the use of resources, minimizing potential risks, improving the efficiency of state management and urban services, and strengthening competitiveness of the economy and international integration./.
